PETALING JAYA: Hasbie Muda (pic) has been elected as the new Amanah Youth chief while Deputy Local Government Development Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu retained her position to lead the women’s wing.
This was decided yesterday at the party polls for the 2023-2026 term during its two-day national convention in Klang.
For the Youth wing, the deputy chief post was won by Danial Abdul Rashid while the three vice-president posts were won by Faris Ariffin, Ammar Atan and Jeming Hassan.
In the Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara (Awan) wing, Aiman Athirah will be aided by her deputy Anfaal Saari, who is Selangor Women Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman, and Taman Templer assemblyman.
The election by 498 delegates also saw Kota Lama assemblyman Dr Hafidzah Mustakim, Dr Salmee Said and Dr Kamaliah Noordin chosen as Awan national vice-presidents.
Apart from that, the Speaker post went to Zarina Dzulkupli who won unopposed with Rosmayana Abu Rahim as deputy while Norlia Salleh and Suriati Sukardi were chosen as auditors.
Aiman Athirah in her adjournment speech at the convention expressed her thanks to delegates from all over the country who placed their confidence in the 26 leaders including herself to continue serving the party and the country.
Amanah, a part of the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition, will continue its second and final day of convention today.
As for the top three posts of the president, deputy president and secretary-general, these will be decided by the 27-member national leadership.
The post most watched is that of Amanah’s deputy president position which has been vacant since the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub in July.
Recently appointed Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is touted to be the most popular candidate to replace Salahuddin.
