MALAYSIAN actress Lee Sinje (pic) has revealed that her family was helping renowned Hong Kong filmmaker Danny Pang pay his huge debts, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 58-year-old Danny is Lee’s brother-in-law. She is married to his twin brother, Oxide Pang.

The Pang brothers are a renowned filmmaking duo known for their works such as The Eye (in which Lee had her breakout role), Bangkok Dangerous and The Messengers.

Danny has reportedly declared bankruptcy and borrowed some HK$2mil (RM1.19mil) to settle his wife’s treatment fees for advanced-stage lung cancer.

His wife of over 30 years was diagnosed with lung cancer in February.

When asked about her brother-in-law’s development at a promotional event in Taipei for the new film Abang Adik where she debuted as a producer, Lee said Danny was indeed facing financial problems.

Although some of the medical fees were covered by the government, Danny reportedly had to pay about HK$100,000 (RM59,600) monthly for other treatment fees and daily expenses.
