Body of missing two-year-old found in Tawau


An air of grief after the body of a missing two-year-boy in Tawau recovered Tuesday (Dec 26).

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a two-year-old boy who fell in a river in east coast Tawau district has been found Tuesday (Dec 26) morning.

Tawau Fire and Rescue station chief Jemishin Ujin said Adva Iman Muhammad Iswan was found at 6.45am by the public about 200m from his house on Jalan Apas along the Kg Kurnia Jaya River.

The boy had been reported missing about 12 hours earlier.

"The victim was confirmed dead at the location and the body was handed over to the police for further action," he said.

Firemen were alerted to the incident at 6pm on Monday (Dec 25) after the child, who was playing behind his house, slipped and fell into the river.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched but had to be called off at 7.30pm because of strong river currents.
