KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested four foreigners after the body of a Filipino woman with multiple slash wounds was found by family members at a plantation in Beaufort, about 100km from here, on Monday (Dec 25).
Beaufort OCPD Deputy Supt Ismail Abdullah said three men and a woman aged between 30 and 40 were detained to facilitate investigations into the death of the 43-year-old plantation worker.
All four suspects have been remanded to assist in the probe while police have yet to ascertain the motive for the murder.
DSP Ismail said the body was found with multiple stab and slash wounds, including on the forehead and neck, with one hand almost severed.
"We are still looking for more suspects in the case," he said on Tuesday (Dec 26).
DSP Ismail said preliminary investigations showed that the victim went missing after leaving for work.
The victim's husband, who worked in the same plantation, went to search for her and found her black pants.
This led to other family members joining in the search until her body was found.
A forensic team from Kepayan police headquarters carried out investigations at the scene while K9 unit dogs were also deployed.
