Express bus overturns on NSE near Kluang


KLUANG: An express bus driver and most of his 36 passengers escaped harm when the vehicle skidded and landed on its side along the North-South Expressway (NSE) near here.

Renggam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Abd Rahim Razali said an emergency call came in at 3.54am on Wednesday (Dec 27) regarding the incident at KM41.5 northbound near Simpang Renggam.

He said that firefighters helped three victims upon arrival at the scene as they were trapped inside the bus.

“The other victims managed to get out of the vehicle with the help of others,” he said in a statement.

He added that of the 14 men on board, one suffered a broken leg while the others were unharmed.

“As for the 18 women on board, all were safe except one who sustained neck injuries and another with minor injuries. The four children on board and the bus driver were also unhurt,” Abd Rahim said, adding that the injured victims were taken to hospital.
