SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry records RM7.76mil worth of seizures between Jan 1 and Dec 25 this year.
Its director, Muhammad Zahir Mazlan, said the state ministry detected 621 cases involving various offences within the same period, which indicated an increase of 29% compared to last year with 482 cases.
"Seizure amount increased to RM7.76mil compared to RM3.44mil last year. A total of RM648,050 in fines and RM235,801 in court fines were recorded this year," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 27).
He said the State Domestic Trade Ministry enforcement personnel conducted 34,212 inspections across the state and found 324 cases under the Price Control and Antiprofiteering Act 2011.
He said they also detected 123 cases under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, 106 cases under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, 53 cases under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, 11 cases under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, and four cases under the Trademarks Act 2019.
He added throughout the same period, the ministry received and solved 1,445 complaints.
"State Domestic Trade Ministry will intensify enforcement in popular locations to create a harmonious and ethical business environment to ensure essential goods, especially controlled items, are in supply," he added. – Bernama
