KLANG: He first had lunch with her and then allegedly killed her at a nearby car park where he had parked his vehicle.
For the alleged crime, the 44-year-old man was charged with the murder of the 26-year-old woman at the Magistrate’s Court here.
Khoo Choon Heng was accused of murdering Koh Chea Ling at Jalan Bayu Tinggi 5 in Klang at 1pm on Dec 18.
The charge was read to Khoo in front of magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abd Rashid and the accused nodded when asked if he understood the accusation levelled against him.
Khoo, who is a fruit seller, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which imposes the death penalty or an imprisonment of not more than 40 years.
If not executed, those found guilty are also liable for 12 strokes of the rotan.
No plea was recorded.
It is believed that Koh was Khoo’s girlfriend.
DPP Siti Bahiyah Amir Haidi prosecuted whilst Sharonpal Singh appeared for the accused.
Amirul Asyraf fixed March 1, 2024 for the case to be mentioned.
According to media reports the couple met at a restaurant for a meal at Jalan Bayu Tinggi 6.
The accused then allegedly stabbed the victim repeatedly after they left the restaurant and arrived at his car parked at the nearby Jalan Bayu Tinggi 5.
According to South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong from previous reports, Khoo had then put Koh in his car and drove to his home in Kapar and tried to revive her.
After failing to resuscitate Koh, Khoo then stabbed himself.
Police arrived at the location and arrested him at about 4.20pm.
Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi was also quoted as saying the motive behind the attack was jealousy.
She had added the suspect was single and did not have any prior criminal records.
