KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan has made a second police report over what it called defamatory social media postings linking it to a Sabah-based drug trafficking ring busted earlier this week.
Warisan Wira (youth) chief Terence Au lodged the report at Kota Kinabalu police headquarters in Kepayan here Thursday (Dec 28) and urged police to investigate the people behind such posts on Facebook and WhatsApp.

"There are parties trying to twist the story to link the case with Warisan with claims that the party was getting its funds from (the drug syndicate's) activities.
"It is political slander intended to tarnish and bring down the reputation of Warisan," he said.

Au said such baseless allegations were aimed at damaging Warisan's reputation while distracting the people from critical issues in the state.
He advised the public to let police carry out investigations.
"We urge those spreading these rumours to cease immediately," he said, adding that the party would not hesitate to take legal action against the culprits.

"Our commitment remains with the people and their welfare, and we will continue to work towards a just and prosperous society, free from the taint of such unfounded claims,” he added.
On Tuesday (Dec 26), Warisan official Jasni Mohammad, an aide to former deputy home minister Datuk Azis Jamman, also lodged a report against a Facebook page "Berita Jenayah Malaysia", which accused him of being linked to the drug cartel's mastermind, a "Datuk Seri."
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay had announced that police arrested 10 men in Sabah, including a "Datuk Seri" who was a patron of a non-governmental organisation for involvement in a drug cartel.
