'What did she do to deserve this?', laments father of teen acid attack victim

PETALING JAYA: Nearly two months after 19-year-old Nadia Fasha Qistina suffered life-threatening injuries from an acid attack, the only question lingering on her father's mind is “Why?”.

The question continues to plague Azman Shah Mohammad’s mind after spending almost his entire savings to pay for his daughter’s life-saving treatment and corrective surgeries.

“It has been almost two months since my child began receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital, and has undergone eight surgeries to repair skin tissue and save her eyes,” said the 43-year-old man according to Sinar Harian.

He said that the family had already burned through RM32,000 alone just to buy eight pieces of skin tissue to save Nadia’s life.

“As a result, I have now spent all my savings, and the doctor informed me that my daughter might have to stay in this hospital for a year," he said, adding that Nadia would also have to rely on medication for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, Nadia continues to suffer pain after she was attacked with acid while returning from work in Denai Alam on Nov 8.

Nadia had only been working at a clinic for six days when she was splashed with acid while she was walking home by a man posing as an e-hailing driver who later fled the scene.

Azman, who sold burgers for a living, said the shocking attack had also caused his wife to fall ill and experience panic attacks, which resulted in her undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

“I'm very upset and confused as to why someone would be willing to do this kind of thing to my daughter.

“She has always been a good child who listens. I just can’t understand why someone would treat Nadia like this,” he said.

"I sincerely hope the police can apprehend the perpetrator soon, as I understand the suspect was hired by someone.

Those who wish to help can donate to Azman’s RHB bank account number 16452600039344.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim has confirmed the incident and said that investigations were underway.
