Three youths feared missing on Bukit Janda Mandi located, rescue still underway


CHUKAI: Three youths who were feared missing after getting lost while hiking at Bukit Janda Mandi on Friday (Dec 29) morning, are reportedly safe.

Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department Zone 2 chief Azman Alias said one of the victims managed to contact the department at 4.29pm and informed them of their location.

He said rescue efforts were currently underway, but personnel were facing several obstacles including the weather and the steep hill path.

"The victims have been identified as Muhammad Khairul Izzat Abas, 21; Muhammad Daniel Irfan Ahmad Redzuan, 19, and Muhammad Amin Amiruddin Sabmun, 18. All three are from Kemaman.

"A total of four engines and 15 personnel members are involved in this operation. The department is monitoring and evaluating the safest and fastest route to bring down the victims," he said.

In the meantime, Azman advised the public to stop climbing and recreational activities in risky locations to avoid unwanted incidents.- Bernama
