Youth faces four counts of sexual assault on teen boy

MELAKA: A 20-year-old youth faced four counts of alleged sexual assault on a teen boy at the Sessions Court here.

The accused pleaded guilty to two charges that were read before Judge Mohd Ismail Sabri on Friday (Dec 29), while no plea was recorded for the other two charges.

Based on all four charges, the accused had allegedly sodomised a 12-year-old boy since May.

The offences were allegedly committed at a hostel and a male toilet in Kompleks Darul Huda, Balai Islam Melaka in the Melaka Tengah district between May 14 to May 23.

The accused, who was a former inmate of Henry Gurney Correctional School in Telok Mas here, faced all the charges under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carried a maximum of 30 years in jail and whipping if found guilty.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Nazrin Ali Rahim asked the court not to grant any bail to the accused in view of the fact that there were two more pending charges.

The court fixed Feb 1 as the next mentioned date and denied bail to the accused.

On Dec 27, the media reported that a 12-year-old boy was said to have been repeatedly sodomised by an adult senior at a hostel here.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the Year Six pupil and his mother – a teaching assistant at a religious institution – have been living at the hostel since April.
