MALAYSIA is expected to be one of the most popular destinations for youths in China to celebrate the New Year, China Press reported.
According to the National Immigration Administration of China, it expects more than 1.56 million daily inbound and outbound travellers between Dec 29 and Jan 2, 2024, of which a significant portion of the latter will be heading to Malaysia.
This was due to China fully opening its borders for outbound travel since the pandemic, as well as the new 30-day visa-free entry to Malaysia for Chinese tourists.
Out of those heading towards Malaysia, 47.8% are millennials and Gen Z.
Top destinations that Chinese netizens searched for online were the Langkawi sunset cruise, Semporna island hopping tour and the Kawa Kawa wetlands adventure.
