KUALA LUMPUR: The Kelantan state government is confident that the announcement of flood mitigation projects and funds will benefit the well-being of the people of the state, says Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
He said that he welcomes the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and adds that he is grateful for the funding.
"We appreciate the approval of the RM6mil allocation to construct a temporary embankment, including the Sungai Golok Integrated River Basin Development Project spillway structure," said Mohd Nassuruddin.
He also said that the Kelantan government is grateful for the five new projects to address the flood issues in Kelantan which are expected to commence next year (2024) with a total estimated cost of RM910.52mil.

"We (the Kelantan state government) will take all the necessary steps to speed up the process of reclaiming land for these projects," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Dec 30).
Mohd Nassuruddin further expressed his appreciation to Anwar for the distribution of Wang Ihsan amounting to RM177.96mil to the state of Kelantan.
"This year (2023) we (Kelantan) received a total of RM216.96mil under Wang Ihsan. These announcements and funding will not only help the people of Kelantan but strengthen the spirit of federalism between the state and the Federal Government," he said.
