It is clear Israel attempting genocide, says Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: The sixth and final night of the "Kepung Demi Palestin" protest saw a crowd "occupying" the area outside the US embassy here.

Among them was former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who described Israel as worse than animals for their atrocities against the Palestinian people.

“I have seen many wars, on the world stage and locally, but I have never seen the level of atrocities such as those done by the Israeli military to the Palestinians. It is clear that their aim is to wipe out the Palestinian people.

“This is not a war. It is an attempt at genocide.

“Their behavior is worse than animals. An animal kills because it is hungry but Israel kills to satisfy their desire to eradicate the Palestinian,” he said on Sunday (Dec 31).

Also present at the rally was Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, who said that the conflict was now a humanitarian issue and not a religious one.

“The symbol of America is supposedly one for liberty but what liberty is there when you see children aged eight, six and five years old screaming out for help to find their parents; to find food?

“I urge the embassy here to report back to your leaders. The world hates you now unless you immediately end the suffering of the Palestinians,” he said.

He also urged all to emulate Malaysia, pointing out the peaceful co-existence between many races and religions.

“Let the Palestinians return to their homeland. If the Israeli people wish to remain so be it, and those that want to move then go ahead.

“Let them all live in peace amongst the Arab peoples, the Christians and the Muslims, and also together with the Israel people.

“Look at Malaysia and emulate us. We have many religions and races and we still live in peace together,” he said.

The protest started on Dec 26, and saw protestors “occupy” the areas near the US embassy.

It is scheduled to end at midnight.
