Malaysians must commit to strengthening nation's unity, says Fadillah

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians regardless of race, religion, political beliefs and ideology, should commit to further strengthening unity, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister said this as part of his New Year’s message to Malaysians on Sunday (Dec 31).

"Unity is the main key to racial harmony, the well-being of the people and prosperity of the country.

"Indeed, the basis of a country's strength is the unity of various layers of society in political, economic and social aspects.

"This is important so that no one else plays politics, instead shift their focus towards economic recovery, developing the country and ensuring the well-being of the people especially when we are facing global economic uncertainty and increasingly challenging geopolitical tensions," he said on X.

Fadillah also thanked the cooperation and support of Malaysians while expressing gratitude that 2023 had been more stable politically with a smoother administration of the Unity Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this in reference to the political uncertainty after the 14th General Elections which saw the country led by three prime ministers in less than four years.
