COMPARED to the series of elections in 2023, politics is expected to take a backseat to the economy in 2024.
But this does not mean the political landscape will be dull as a handful of new laws are expected to make their way to the Dewan Rakyat.

These include one that would protect Malaysian assets from lawsuits brought by people such as those claiming to be heirs of the Sulu Sultanate.
The temperature in the latter half of the year is also expected to go up as Opposition party Bersatu holds its elections, and speculation will be rife over whether the Sabah Chief Minister will call for early elections.
Further afield, four of Malaysia’s important trading partners and allies, the United States, United Kingdom, India and Indonesia will be electing new governments.
In the sporting world, we have Paris 2024 to look forward to.
