Lorry driver claims trial to four charges of sexually assaulting daughter


IPOH: A lorry driver has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to four charges of sexual assault of his teenage daughter.

In proceedings before Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad on Tuesday (Jan 2), the 54-year-old pleaded not guilty to four offences allegedly committed between late 2021 and the end of 2022.

He entered his plea after being read the charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act read together with Section 16 of the same Act.

The offences were allegedly committed at several places including Chemor and Bercham.

In submissions for bail, deputy public prosecutor Qurratu'aini Khalifah said that the accused should be denied bail and also asked for the accused to be directed by the court to not disturb the victim and witnesses.

The accused, who was not represented, requested for a lower bail, as he still needed to pay the loan for his house, a car and a motorcycle.

Ainul Shahrin set RM7,000 with one surety for both cases and Feb 2 for mention.
