Suspected burglars who rammed into cop at PJ roadblock nabbed


PETALING JAYA: Two suspected burglars were arrested shortly after ramming through a police roadblock and injuring a policeman near Damansara Jaya here.

A policeman suffered a metacarpal fracture when the suspects crashed into him while trying to evade the roadblock.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said they received information on the incident at 9.06pm on Tuesday (Jan 2).

"We received information that a red car sped and rammed through the roadblock and injured a policeman near the Damansara Jaya exit along the Sprint Highway.

"A police car chased the fleeing vehicle for about two kilometres before it crashed near Jalan 17/50," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 3).

He said two foreign men aged 35 and 45 were arrested and police managed to seize over RM9,839.85 in various foreign currencies as well as a hammer, screwdriver and saw.

"Both suspects do not have any prior criminal records," he said, adding that the suspects have been remanded for six days.

He said the case has been classified as attempted murder and possession of house break-in tools.
