PETALING JAYA: There is a possibility of Perikatan Nasional leaders attempting to overthrow the unity government, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has hinted.
The Kedah Mentri Besar also said with confidence that the current government would not complete its five-year term.
He, however, refused to acknowledge the existence of the widely speculated Dubai Move, an alleged plot by Perikatan to overthrow the government.
Muhammad Sanusi said it was just a dummy.
“I don’t think there is such thing as Dubai Move because I believe it is just a dummy (a decoy). It could be a Chow Kit Move if the discussion was held in Kuala Lumpur or Alor Setar Move if it was in Kedah,” he said.
He also said that a change of government could happen.
Muhammad Sanusi said the opposition pact should not be blamed if it managed to pull some Pakatan Harapan or Barisan Nasional MPs to its side to form the next Federal Government.
It was the unity government, which showed the country there is a loophole in the anti-hopping law, by drawing the support of five Bersatu MPs last year, he added.
“If they can score, why can’t we score too? Don’t get angry if we win,” he told a press conference at Wisma Darul Aman here yesterday.
The event was aired live on his Facebook page.
When asked further, the PAS’ general election director said: “I can’t share anything I know with you and I have no intention of sharing it.”
The Dubai Move first came about after Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed on Dec 30, that Perikatan leaders and government backbenchers vacationing in the United Arab Emirates were planning a plot.
He said a meeting took place there to assign specific tasks to “agents” responsible for identifying unity government MPs, who may want to switch their support to the opposition.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was aware of the plot even before those involved landed in the Middle East nation.
Sanusi said he is confident that the current government would not last its five-year term but stopped short from providing any evidence to support the claim.
“I see it happening. We will always try and the other side will always try to defend. Nobody complained about the five (Bersatu MPs) so if they can take five, maybe we can take 10.
“The government has opened the loophole and we are simply walking through the same path. Nothing undemocratic or unconstitutional about that.
“Let them rattle. Many are worried now. This government will fall. I know when but I can’t tell you,” he added.
As of November last year, the five Bersatu MPs who have pledged support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain (Kuala Kangsar) Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang).
