Woman murdered in Ipoh phone accessory shop


IPOH: A woman has been found stabbed to death in a mobile phone accessory shop in Taman Rasi Jaya in Menglembu here.

It is believed that the 49-year-old victim was killed at about 10.30am on Thursday (Jan 4).

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said in a statement the possible cause of the killing was a financial issue.

"We believe the woman was stabbed by her worker, a 54-year-old man.

"The woman's 42-year-old boyfriend was injured and taken to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

"We have arrested the worker, who was also injured in the incident," he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the matter would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"A background check on the worker found four offences on his record.

"He will be brought to a Magistrate's Court here on Friday (Jan 5) to obtain a remand order," he said.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the case had been solved with the arrest.

"We will complete the investigation paper and refer it to the deputy public prosecutor with a recommendation to charge," he added.
