All in fixed fares for flight bookings to Sabah and Sarawak for CNY period starting Jan 5

SEPANG: AirAsia is offering one-way economy tickets at an all-in fixed fare to Sabah and Sarawak at RM348 and RM298 respectively for the Chinese New Year period starting Friday (Jan 5).

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the fixed-fare tickets are available for purchase from Friday until Feb 15 or once sold out.

“We applaud AirAsia for providing affordable options that complement our efforts to manage the surge in demand during festive seasons, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to return home to their loved ones,” he said at AirAsia RedQ headquarters here on Friday.

The fixed fares are applicable for routes between Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu; Johor Baru to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sibu and Miri; Kuching to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru as well as Kota Kinabalu to Johor Baru.

Loke added that it was a priority to bridge the gap between East and West Malaysia.

“Last month, the Madani government for the first time introduced a subsidised price cap of RM599 on flights between East and West Malaysia during festive seasons for the whole year.

“That means the price cap will not only apply during the coming Chinese New Year, but also Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai and Christmas,” he added.

He also called for continued collaboration with industry players, including AirAsia, to enhance the well-being of the people.

“Together, we can build a more inclusive and accessible air travel infrastructure that benefits all Malaysians,” he said.
