KUALA LUMPUR: A group of organisers of the "Aksi Bertindak: Kepung Demi Palestin" say they will mobilise another gathering next month.
When met outside the Wangsa Maju police headquarters, Tian Chua said they were doing so to shed light on what the Palestinians are going through with the constant attacks on Gaza.
"We will mobilise again on Feb 24 and hope that one million rakyat join us to state their feelings and protest against the attacks there," he said.
On the statement-taking process, Tian Chua said they were willing to cooperate with the police in their investigations as they were only conducting a peaceful gathering and were confident that no laws were broken.
"We were not informed of what law they are investigating this but we will continue to cooperate with their investigations," he said.
Meanwhile, MCA Youth deputy chief Mike Chong said they respected the process and procedures of the authorities in investigating the protest.
"In my opinion, we did not cause any disturbances throughout the protest.
"We are doing this for the benefit of all and to show our solidarity with the Palestinians.
"We want to send a message loud and clear internationally that we want peace in Gaza," he said.
Meanwhile, Lawyers for Liberty director Zaid Malek said the police must allow lawyers to accompany their clients during the statement-taking process.
"I have learnt that several lawyers were told they were not allowed to accompany their clients and advise them throughout this process today.
"It is our client's right to seek legal counsel and the police should not bar lawyers from sitting in while their clients have their statements recorded," he said.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said they recorded statements from 13 individuals in connection with the rally last week.
"We will call several others soon to assist with further investigations," he said when contacted.
