Statement claiming 118MPs want audience with King is fake, says Perikatan

PETALING JAYA: A statement claiming that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has agreed to grant an audience to 118 MPs is fake, says Perikatan Nasional.

The office of Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin confirmed on Saturday (Jan 6) that the statement that has gone viral, allegedly issued by the Perikatan secretary-general, is not real.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin had earlier claimed that the Opposition had successfully garnered 123 statutory declarations from MPs who had allegedly lost confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, the claim was debunked by Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam.

On Dec 30, Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that there was a plot to topple Anwar's Madani government was organised by Perikatan leaders and government backbenchers who are vacationing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
