Amanah determined to be stable component in Madani govt, says party sec-gen

PETALING JAYA: Parti Amanah Nasional (Amanah) is determined to be a stable component in the unity government, says new secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil.

He said that this is because Amanah realises the increasingly challenging political demands on the Madani government as a component within it.

"This determination is to ensure that the government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains intact and stable in order to guarantee the sustainable development of the country and progress for people, said Muhammad Faiz.

On Amanah, he said that the party's Leadership Committee members chaired their first meeting on Sunday (Jan 7) based on the spirit of the unity agenda raised as the theme of the Amanah National Convention 2023 held on Dec 24.

"It has unanimously decided on the appointment of management positions including the pairing of experienced and young leaders among the 27 party central committee members," added Muhammad Faiz in a statement.

The newly appointed committee include Datuk Mahfuz Omar and Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli as vice-presidents (4 and 5), Muhammad Faiz as the secretary-general and Norhayati Bidin as the deputy secretary-general, Mohd Faizul Salleh and Ridzwan Abu Bakar as assistant secretaries, Abang Ahmad Kerdee Abang Masagus as its organising secretary and Izham Hashim as the treasurer-general.

Aside from this, Khalid Abdul Samad is the communications director and Ahmad Sabki Yusof is the strategic director, while Suhaizan Kaiat is the human resources development director, Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom is the Syariah affairs director and Mohd Sany Hamzan is the elections director.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Faiz said the appointment of the respective Amanah state chairman will be made during the upcoming national meeting after sufficient written notices are given to each state to nominate a suitable candidate for consideration.

"This is in order to give the grassroots a voice and choice. During the meeting, we (Amanah) approved the strategic plan framework that was decided on Saturday (Jan 6).

"The objective is to strengthen the party through its agenda of building the strength of our members through shared values and its political approach that Malaysians will respect based on the principle of trust, justice and grace," added Muhammad Faiz.

On Dec 24, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu retained the Amanah president post while Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa was elected as his deputy for the new term.

Newly appointed Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was elected as one of the three vice presidents, despite bagging the most number of votes earlier from the delegates.

Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Adly Zahari were elected for the two other vice president posts.

The top five leaders were elected for the 2023-2026 term by 27 party central committee members during the Amanah National Convention 2023.
