Man, 25, killed after car rams into lorry on NSE

BATU PAHAT: A 25-year-old man died after his car crashed into the back of a lorry on the North-South Expressway near here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the accident took place at KM115 on the south-bound lane of the highway at around 2.45am on Monday (Jan 8).

“The victim, who was driving a Perodua Bezza along the Pagoh-Yong Peng stretch on the expressway, hit the back of a lorry.

“The impact threw the victim out of his car and onto the road where he was then hit by an express bus that came from behind,” he said in a statement.

He added that the accident caused the lorry to skid to the left side of the road and the 48-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.

The 25-year-old express bus driver and the 28 passengers were unhurt during the incident, he said.

ACP Ismail added that the deceased, N. Shashitharan from Bahau, Negri Sembilan, was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail Nora for post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
