Number of flood victims in Johor slightly drops, Kota Tinggi remains badly hit


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has slightly dropped from 7,511 people at 4pm to 7,344 people at 8pm on Monday (Jan 8).

The state disaster management committee, in a statement, said that the victims were from 2,046 families that are currently occupying 49 temporary relief centres (PPS) in six districts.

"The number of flood victims has not changed much, with Kota Tinggi still being the badly hit district with 4,652 evacuees placed at 26 PPS.

"This is followed by Kluang with 1,613 victims, Johor Baru with 903 victims, Kulai with 86 victims, Segamat with 73 victims, and Pontian with 17 victims," it said.

There were also four PPS that had recorded more than 300 victims placed at their centre, namely SK Taman Kota Jaya with 382 people and Dewan Taman Kota Jaya with 376 people in Kota Tinggi.

The other PPS are SK Batu 3 in Kluang with 353 people and Dewan Kampung Jaya in Johor Baru with 350 people.
