Car driven by elderly Swiss national rams into Ipoh petrol station


IPOH: A car driven by a 77-year-old Switzerland national, who suffered a leg cramp, crashed through a glass panel into a courier service outlet at a petrol station in Canning Garden here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the incident occurred on Tuesday (Jan 9) at about 10.30am.

ACP Yahaya said the former hotel manager, who drove to the petrol station to pump petrol, had suddenly suffered from a cramp to his right leg.

"It caused the man to lose control of the car, which lunged forward, ramming into a motorcycle before crashing into the courier service outlet.

"A woman who was at the outlet was injured on her right leg," he said in a statement.

"No arrest was made.

"The case has been classified under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules," he added.
