Family still in shock over five-year-old girl’s death, cops to record statement at later date


GOMBAK: The family of a five-year old child that was killed in a freak accident will have their statements recorded at a later date, say police.

When contacted, Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said that the family is still in shock after the incident which occurred on Jan 6.

"Because of that the police will need to take some time to record the statements. At the time of the incident, the victim's 10-year-old brother was also in the room,” he said.

He added that investigations into the case were almost completed.

"As soon as this (statement recording) is completed the investigation paper will be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions," he said.

On Jan 6, a five-year-old girl died after playing with a metal clothes hanger in an apartment near Batu Caves.

Harian Metro, quoting Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, reported that the girl suffered fatal injuries after the hanger pierced through her neck.
