ALOR SETAR: The Statistics Department is mobilising its "flying squad" team in the rural and interior areas of Kedah with no internet access in an effort to get all Malaysians to register with the Central Database Hub (Padu).
Its Kedah director Nadia Marzuki said this is because the response from people in the state in updating their information with Padu is still low, especially those in the rural and interior areas.

"This is the main challenge facing the Kedah Statistics Department, especially in rural areas with limitations of information and digital literacy," she said on Tuesday (Jan 9).
She said as of Friday (Jan 5), only 39,500 or 2.6% of the state's population aged 18 and above had registered with Padu and updated their information.
She advised the public not to delay updating their information to ensure that those who are eligible for government assistance do not miss out on receiving targeted subsidies or social aid.

To facilitate Padu registration, she said the department has opened Padu counters at 12 selected Digital Economy Centres (PEDi) in each district.
Kedah residents aged 18 and above are requested to update their personal information online, and those who need assistance can go to any Padu counter with the necessary documents.
Padu registration is open to the public until March 31, and users can update and verify 30 personal details, including identity card number, household particulars and residential address. – Bernama
