Amanah rejects extremism and violence

PETALING JAYA: The attack on the residence of Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham should be condemned as it is an extreme act of violence, says Amanah.

The party said that political differences are not a licence to show anger through an indiscriminate attack which could threaten the lives of others.

Amanah Wangsa Maju deputy youth leader Shahzril Shukri said the Molotov cocktail attack at Ngeh's residence in Ayer Tawar, Manjung should not have happened as Malaysia is a democratic country.

He added that barbaric and extremist behaviour will not be accepted.

"If this attack was politically motivated, why act in a manner where property is destroyed. Is this what is taught in the religion," added Shahzril in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 10).

"Amanah believes in harmony and unity of the various races and all parties should not follow their emotions leading to unwanted incidents," added Shahzril.

The attack on early Wednesday (Jan 10) damaged three cars and started a fire which was put out by the Fire and Rescue Department, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the house.

No one was injured in the 3am incident in Taman Semarak Jaya.
