Cops nab two for armed robbery in Kepong

KUALA LUMPUR: An armed robbery here has led to one man injured after an attempt was made to subdue the robbers.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said an armed robbery took place at an ATM room of a bank in Kepong on Dec 27.

He said the complainant, who worked at the bank, spotted the suspect in the room around 8pm, had scolded him for wearing a motorcycle helmet.

"The suspect then pointed a knife at the complainant.

"A scuffle ensued and the complainant was hit on the head by the back of the knife. He was then instructed to stay quiet as the suspect robbed the three people that were in the room at that time," he told a press conference at the district police headquarters on Friday (Jan 12).

The suspect then escaped on a motorcycle road by an accomplice while the injured complainant was sent to the Kuala Lumpur hospital to treat his wounds.

Follow-up investigations led to separate arrests on Jan 4 and 6 in Perak and Pahang respectively.

It is known that both suspects had addresses at the areas where they were arrested.

"Both suspects were found with previous criminal records. With their arrests we have solved six cases in Kuala Lumpur and 28 in Perak.

"Once we have concluded our investigations we will handover the two to Perak police for their side of the investigation," he said.
