‘No arrests yet on arson attack at MP’s home’

IPOH: There have been no arrests so far following the arson attack against Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, says Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri. However, he said seven statements had been recorded following the incident.

“We will wait for the report on the statements taken from the seven people first. No arrests have been made so far. We will monitor and increase patrolling in the area,” he said yesterday.

On Wednesday morning, three cars parked on the porch of Ngeh’s house in Ayer Tawar were damaged when a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the house compound.

Ngeh told a press conference that no warnings were received prior to the early-morning arson attack.

He suspected that the fire was due to arson, as a broken bottle with an object taped to it was found near the porch of his house.

He said that he was not involved in any quarrel or dispute with anyone.
