Rahmah initiative to be expanded, says Armizan

PUTRAJAYA: The Rahmah initiative will be expanded with greater participation from industries and the private sector, says Datuk Armizan Ali.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said this would be one of the major initiatives by the ministry for 2024.

To be known as Ihsan Rahmah, companies and industries would be offering discounts and rebates through certain applications and discount cards.

"I was approached by certain industry players and the private sector wishing to play their part to help the people in cushioning the impact of cost of living.

"I am heartened to know this as this proves that Malaysians are a caring lot," he said after addressing the ministry staff on Friday (Jan 12).

Some companies were even offering discounted meals for their staff, he added.

Armizan said the Ihsan Rahmah programme would start soon once all loose ends had been tied.

He also said a dedicated calendar would be created so that the public would be informed of the Rahmah sales programme that would take place near them.

"The calendar would show where the sales programme will be held within the month. This way, the public can plan as to when they can shop for goods at sales price," he said.

The Rahmah sales programme calendar would be available at the ministry’s website.

The minister also touched on enforcement and the need to ensure this was done effectively to curb leakages and indiscriminate price hikes.

"We currently have 2,200 personnel for enforcement activities.

"What we hope is to get all staffing requirements fulfilled so that greater enforcement can be done," he added.
