KOTA KINABALU: A 24-year-old widow was arrested after she attacked her boyfriend with a knife during an argument on Sunday afternoon.
The couple began fighting while on an ehailing ride back to their house at Batu 4 Jalan Apas in Tawau, said district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin.
When they arrived at the house, the woman ran into the kitchen to pick up a knife and confronted her boyfriend.
“The suspect slapped her 30-year-old boyfriend and injured him on his right arm and left leg with the knife,” he said.
ACP Jasmin said the woman became aggressive when the boyfriend tried to grab the knife from her.
“After the boyfriend got hold of the knife, the suspect kept silent and no longer acted aggressively.
“She was not at home the next day,” he said, adding that the man subsequently lodged a police report.
The woman was arrested at about 5pm on Wednesday.
ACP Jasmin said the suspect is unemployed and has three criminal cases involving drugs and gambling on record.
In a separate case, cops seized two homemade rifles after arresting a 60-year-old man in Tawau.
A team from Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) special investigation unit (D9) searched the man’s home at Kampung Kuala Merotai on Thursday following a tip-off.
Sabah CID chief Senior Asst Comm Azmi Abd Rahim said they also found three bullets.
“The suspect claimed to have acquired the firearms from a man from Lawas (a district in Sarawak) but could not remember the name or face,” he said.
