Bystanders nabbed for attacking man after accident


KAJANG: An elderly man was attacked after allegedly causing a collision that left a student injured.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said a 63-year-old man had lodged a report on the attack on Friday.

He said the man was involved in a multi-vehicle collision that included a school van ferrying several students a day earlier.

“After the accident, the complainant pulled over his car by the roadside and suddenly, several men came over to punch and kick him,” he said.

The complainant suffered injuries to his stomach, forehead and body, added ACP Mohd Zaid.

He said the complainant was suspected to have been beaten up by angry passers-by, who believed he was speeding and ran a red light that had led to the collision.The investigation led police to arrest two suspects, aged 26 and 43, around 3.30am yesterday.

The arrests were made within Kajang area, with one of the suspects being involved in the collision as well.

Both men confessed to the attack, adding that they were angry at the complainant for causing the collision.

They have been remanded until Jan 15.
