Sungai Pontian Kechil bridge expansion to be completed in September 2025

PONTIAN: The expansion work of the Sungai Pontian Kechil bridge in Lorong Atap here is expected to be completed in September of next year, says Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said that the expansion will turn the available two-lane road into a four-lane road with a development cost of RM23.1mil.

“The project will start with the diversion of utilities before we can start with the physical expansion of the bridge.

“We have also told the contractor involved to prioritise this project as it has been delayed previously, so we expect the project to be completed by September next year,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after conducting a working visit to the Pontian Public Works Department office here on Sunday (Jan 14).

Ahmad added that there are also two other Federal Government projects in Pontian that are ongoing, namely upgrading work at Jalan Pekan Nenas-Tanjung Piai and Jalan Bukit Nyamuk, Kluang towards Jalan Puteri Menangis in Pontian.

“The development cost for Jalan Pekan Nenas-Tanjung Piai is RM65.6mil while Jalan Bukit Nyamuk-Jalan Puteri Menangis is RM90mil,” he added.
