Anwar, Zahid wish Harimau Malaya all the best ahead of Asian Cup opener

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wished the Malaysian national football team all the best ahead of their 2023 Asian Cup Group E opening match against Jordan in Doha, Qatar early Tuesday (Jan 16) morning.

He said that the Harimau Malaya squad would begin an important mission on Tuesday, bearing the hopes of the entire nation with them.

"All Malaysians are hoping you all fight with all your might. Good luck!,” he said in a Facebook post Monday (Jan 15) night.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also posted on Facebook, urging Malaysians to watch the match and show their support for the Harimau Malaya squad.

He expressed hope that Malaysia would create history and qualify for the round of 16.

"Are you ready to stay up tonight? The moment all Malaysians have been waiting for, the first match for Harimau Malaya against Jordan at 1.30 am tomorrow.

"Even though we are far away, show your support for the Harimau Malaya team! Let’s pray for the best for our national squad. But don’t forget to wake up for morning prayers and also, those who are working, do need to go to work,” he added. - Bernama
