Four KL cops suspended over alleged ketum possession


KUALA LUMPUR: The four policemen who were arrested for alleged ketum possession have been suspended from work, says Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid.

The Kuala Lumpur police chief said the four were suspended pending the results of a pathology report.

"The case is still under investigation and we are waiting for the results of the pathology report.

"The four suspects have been suspended in the meantime," he told reporters after attending a back-to-school campaign at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (Lelaki) Jalan Batu here on Tuesday (Jan 16).

It was reported that the four were arrested at Taman Tan Yew Lai on Jan 4 by a Bukit Aman integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS) team.

It is learnt that the four are from the Brickfields police district.

The four were among seven who were detained following an operation after they were suspected of processing and distributing ketum juice.

The four, aged between 24 and 38 years old, were detained with an estimated 18kg or 13,500ml of ketum juice, with a total seizure value of RM420.
