Man found dead at Tamparuli orchard


Firefighters at the scene with villagers who found the body of the 59-year-old man who failed to return home after visiting his orchard in Tamparuli on Tuesday (Jan 16).

KOTA KINABALU: The Fire and Rescue Department was called in to assist in carrying the body of a 59-year-old man who was found dead during a trip to an orchard in Tamparuli on Tuesday (Jan 16).

Lotimin Maun was earlier reported to have left his house at Kampung Ruhiang there to do gardening work at 2.30am, where he was supposed to return home at 6.30am.

When he did not return, villagers tried to look for him and found the victim at 12.30pm in an unconscious state.

"After receiving the report at 3.20pm, a team from Tuaran fire station came and carried the victim's body using a stretcher out of the orchard before handing him over to the police.

"His death was declared by the police forensics team on location.

"The operation ended at 4.30pm," said the Department spokesman.
