Man found unconscious next to car on fire in Sibu


SIBU: A man has been found unconscious next to a blazing car that the Fire and Rescue Department believe was purposely set on fire at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here on Monday (Jan 15) night.

Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief Andy Alie said a total of 10 firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene after they were informed about the incident at 7.47pm.

"Arriving at the location, the firefighters found a car on fire and immediately extinguished the fire.

"Preliminary information obtained shows that the fire was deliberately set," he said.

Firefighters then found the man, who was the driver of the car, lying beside it in an unconscious state.

The victim, 29, was then handed over to the paramedic team and taken to Sibu Hospital for follow-up treatment, he said.

He added that the fire brigade took almost an hour to put out the fire which was successfully controlled at 8.10pm.
