KUALA LUMPUR: The four policemen who were arrested for alleged ketum possession have been suspended from work, it was revealed.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the case is still being investigated and the results of a pathology report are pending.
“In the meantime, the four suspects have been suspended,” he told reporters after attending a back-to-school campaign at SK Jalan Batu here yesterday.
The four were arrested at Taman Tan Yew Lai on Jan 4 by a Bukit Aman integrity and standards compliance department team.
It was learnt that the four, believed to be from the Brickfields police district, were among seven suspects detained for suspicion of processing and distributing ketum juice.
The four, aged between 24 and 38, were detained with an estimated 18kg or 13,500ml of ketum juice, valued at RM420.
Also seized were equipment used in processing ketum leaves, five sets of police uniforms, and RM1,200.
