Cops nab man in connection with Ampang car theft


AMPANG: A 29-year-old man was detained for allegedly breaking into a house in Bandar Baru Ampang and stealing valuables, including a car.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the victim lodged a police report on Monday (Jan 15), stating that his car was stolen along with his wallet and important documents.

He said that the investigation led the police to nab the suspect at about 7pm on Tuesday (Jan 16) in Bandar Baru Ampang.

"We recovered the stolen car, a set of motorcycle keys, wires and a wallet," he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 18).

ACP Mohd Azam said that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, adding that he has 15 prior cases in his criminal record, including for drug-related offences.

"The suspect has since been remanded," he added.

ACP Mohd Azam urged those with information on any criminal activity to contact the police as soon as possible.
