Homeless man helps return missing boy

HULU SELANGOR: The younger of two brothers who had gone missing since Jan 1 has been found - a homeless man brought him to the police.

The 28-year-old homeless man from Kuala Lumpur brought the 16-year-old to the Hulu Bernam police station yesterday at 10.48am, said Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim.

“The victim is believed to have fled from a hotel in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur, after staying there for nine days,” Supt Faizal said in a statement.

“He then found refuge in an abandoned hotel in Pasar Seni for six days before seeking help from the homeless man on Jan 15.

“The man then brought the boy to the Hulu Bernam police station,” he said.

Supt Ahmad Faizal confirmed that the boy was the younger of two brothers who had been reported missing since Jan 1.

The two, aged 16 and 17, had been reported missing after they did not return home from morning prayers at a mosque in Hulu Bernam.

The older brother was found on Jan 11 near the Pasar Seni LRT station. He then made a report the next day, stating that he had been sexually assaulted.

City police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul said on Jan 17 that the police then arrested one male suspect at a hotel on Jalan Sultan.

The suspect, aged 42, has since been remanded until Jan 19.
