Teacher denies molesting schoolgirl


ALOR GAJAH: A 42-year-old teacher has pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to a charge of outraging the modesty of his pupil in a classroom.

The accused’s plea was recorded before judge Nariman Badruddin yesterday.

Based on the charge sheet, the accused had allegedly outraged the modesty of the 11-year-old by caressing her private parts during class.

The teacher has allegedly committed the offence at a primary school at 10am on May 26, 2022.The charge was framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

The accused, who has since been transferred out from the school, was represented by lawyer S. Karthigesan. Deputy public prosecutor Anis Najwa Nazari prosecuted.

The court granted the accused bail of RM8,000 in one surety and fixed the next mention for Feb 28.
