KOTA TINGGI: Three mosques under the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) will conduct the "#GengSubuhMacamJumaat" programme from Friday (Jan 27) as part of the government mosque-enlivening initiative, says Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.
The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) said that the initiative is part of how the government supports the ongoing trend of performing Subuh (dawn) prayer in mass congregations recently popularised by Alif Satar and the Johor government.
"We will borrow the '#GengSubuhMacamJumaat' tagline and continue supporting these initiatives.
"As a start, three mosques under the ministry, namely the National Mosque, the Putra Mosque and the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, will start running this mass fajr prayer programme.
"This is also in line with the Semarak Subuh programme that the Johor government started on Jan 5, which will be conducted every Friday morning throughout this year," he said.
He said this after handing out aid to flood victims at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Sungai Telor on Sunday (Jan 21).
Na'im added that the government would expand the programme to other states.
"We will continue to support such significant initiatives, especially those that can attract people to do good, and we are also hoping that more young leaders will attract the younger generation to be part of this.
"We have also invited Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid to be part of our 'Subuh Macam Jumaat' programme this coming Friday," he said.
