KLANG: A 50-year-old man allegedly slashed his wife with a knife at the side of the Kesas expressway before driving away and eventually slashing himself on the wrists.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said the incident occurred at about 1pm on Friday following an argument between the suspect and his 49-year-old wife.
“The suspect had stopped his vehicle at the side of the expressway near Kota Bayu Emas, Klang.
“The suspect is believed to have slashed his wife multiple times. Fearing for her life, the victim ran out of the vehicle and asked for assistance from passers-by,” he said in a statement.
When a passerby stopped his car to assist, the suspect sped away in his vehicle, he added.
“The police managed to track down the suspect, who parked his vehicle at Jalan Batu Nilam 34 in Klang. He was unconscious and bleeding.
“Policemen had to smash the vehicle’s window to rescue him and send him to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah for treatment,” he said.
ACP Cha said the victim suffered multiple injuries to her neck, left shoulder, left hand, left leg and back, while the suspect sustained injuries to his arms.
“The victim was also treated at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah,” he said.
The case is classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing harm using a weapon, he said.
“We urge those with information to contact South Klang police at 03-33762222 or any nearest police station,” he added.
ACP Cha also advised the public not to spread videos of the incident as it could cause public distress.
