KOTA KINABALU: Unity and harmony among Sabahans are the keys to the prosperity of the people in the state, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said people of various races and backgrounds have high respect for each other and celebrate festivities and cultures together in Sabah.
“This is Sabah’s uniqueness... People of different cultures and ethnic groups can celebrate various festivals harmoniously,” he said at the launch of the Tuaran 2024 Dragon, Unicorns and Lions Dance Festival in Tuaran district, located about 40km from here.
Hajiji said Sabah’s harmony was inherited from their ancestors and must be protected by the younger generation.
The diversity of Sabah’s communities has also enabled the people to co-exist peacefully with each other.
“We in Sabah can be an example to other states in Malaysia on multiracial and multicultural diversity,” he said during the event on Sunday.
Hajiji said the state government, through its Sabah Maju Jaya vision, is committed towards developing Sabah and its people without looking at race or religion.
He also said the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry will organise the Chinese New Year celebrations this year.
