No load shedding in Sabah, power supply still meets demand

KOTA KINABALU: Load shedding is not expected in Sabah and Labuan for now, as the power supply is still enough to meet demand.

Sabah and Labuan Grid System Operator (GSO) general manager Adrian Mosigil said as of Tuesday (Jan 23), the total power supply available is 1,149MW.

At the peak period around 2.30pm, the usage is expected to reach 1,038MW.

Even so, he said Sabah Electricity (SESB) still has around 11MW of reserves for emergency use.

Mosigil said it is unlikely that load shedding would take place.

He said the power usage reached 1,040MW at its peak at 4pm on Monday (Jan 22).

The GSO is a department under SESB tasked with handling the grid system in the state.

It provides power supply and load shedding forecasts from Mondays to Fridays for the reference of the users.
