Bella's murder motivated by jealousy, says IGP

JOHOR BARU: Jealousy is believed to be the motive behind Mila Sharmilah Samsusah's murder, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police added that the autopsy report found the deceased, who is better known as Bella, had died due to a fracture in the head caused by a blunt object.

“The motive for Bella's murder may be jealousy, as I said before, this murder case must have a motive.

“From that motive, we will start an investigation from there, get a hint towards the motive. This is the motive that we know," he said.

Razarudin said this after witnessing the handover of the Johor police chief post between Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, who is retiring, and Comm M. Kumar at state police headquarters here on Wednesday (Jan 24).

He also said that the suspect behind the murder of Bella has since been charged at the magistrate court in Batu Pahat earlier on Wednesday (Jan 24).

Razarudin also denied allegations on social media about the police investigation after the main suspect was released after being initially arrested following Bella’s disappearance.

He added that the main suspect was detained for the first time under Section 364 of the Penal Code for abduction.

Razarudin however said after the suspect’s statement was taken, he was given police bail because there was not enough evidence to charge him.

“But police continued with the investigation which led to the discovery of new evidence and we arrested the suspect again under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“It is not that the police freed the suspect because we want to give him the opportunity to go to umrah, no,” he added.
