Youth dies from head injuries after falling off his bike

KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed following a mishap near a school in Penampang early Wednesday.

The 20-year-old was believed to have been killed on the spot after he fell off his motorcycle and hit his head on a metal barrier by the roadside.

Penampang OCPD Supt Sammy Newton said the victim was heading towards Donggongon township prior to the 5am incident.

“The victim lost control of his bike before hitting his head on a metal divider.

“Medical personnel who arrived later pronounced him dead on the scene,” he said in a statement.

Supt Sammy said the victim’s body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.

“We are investigating the case under the Road Transport Act.

"All road users should abide by traffic laws and be alert while driving or riding," he said.
